Family of 3 with toddler visiting Germany in early September. Where should we go?

My wife (27), myself (36) and our son (1.5) will be flying to Frankfurt, Germany 8/30/19 and returning 9/13/19. We are staying in Landstuhl for free and have rented a car. Any recommendations for day trips and a couple of overnight trips? We’re there for the culture/food/drink. Thanks!
