How safe is Peru for solo female travelers and what should I check out?

(posted this on r/solotravel but figured I'd get some good advice on here too)

As the title says I'm really considering going to Peru next summer but planning it is extremely intimidating and I'm only 19F. So I was wondering how safe it is going alone and if there's any specific tips I should know about. I'm planning on using Peru Hop to get around due to it having English speakers and I have the budget for it. If anybody could share their experience with Peru and what they recommend (sight seeing/hostels/food), I'd love to hear it. Thanks!
