Private guide for Morocco travel?

Hey reddit! My wife and I (Americans) are planning a couple of weeks traveling next year and are looking at Portugal + Morocco.

One thing we’re nervous about with Morocco is language issues. Neither of us speak French or Arabic, and while we’re not averse to learning a few basic phrases, it seems like this will make for quite a barrier. (This is also our first trip ever outside of Europe and North America, so we’re not entirely sure what to expect language wise.)

To get around this, we were thinking of some combination of hiring a private guide around Marrakech, and taking some English group excursions elsewhere.

I’ve never hired a private guide before and was hoping some more seasoned travelers could give me some tips. What’s the best way to find a quality guide? What’s the price range? And I’m assuming a guide doesn’t dine with you, so if you get a great local restaurant recommendation from a guide, how do you handle the language barrier when ordering?
