Is this a normal flying experience?

I was flying from Minnesota to Turkey about 3 weeks ago now. I had a pretty tough time while flying over here (this might be biased, I have never flown alone before).

My flight from MSP to O'Hare was delayed by an hour (poor weather conditions), and I ended up missing my flight to Dublin. I suppose I should have given more time to make my next flight, but my boyfriend wrote the itinerary. Fortunately, when I spoke to a United Airlines employee, they were able to rewrite my itinerary to make it to Turkey.

They suggested flying through Washington DC - Munich - Turkey (final destination).

There was an additional flight leaving for Munich the next evening (mind you, it was 10 pm local time, the plane to Munich was leaving at 6 pm or so the next evening). I opted for this because I would get to Turkey at the same time (and I prefer to take fewer planes).

I was given a cot to sleep in until 4am. I would have graciously appreciated keeping the cot longer because I desperately needed sleep, and I was definitely not too ladylike sleeping on the chairs inside the airport.

6 pm slowly inched closer, and I boarded the plane to Munich. Things were going really well until I was asked to get off the plane to talk to someone.

A Border and Customs officer was concerned by my rapid flight schedule changes. Apparently, when I was having my new itinerary written, the employee didn't view possible itineraries, he scheduled me on all of them. I was asked for my personal information, my name, my passport number, where I was going....blah blah....

I was allowed to board the plane, god bless, I was crying at this point.

My total travel time was about 48 hours, I left Monday morning, and arrived Wednesday morning (with respects to MN time, it was Wednesday evening in Turkey).

I encountered no issues in Munich, it was so pretty!!!

I did, however, lose my luggage. I just got it back 2 days ago, they found it in Munich. My boyfriend was happy when it came, I brought some vanilla coke in the suitcase (they don't sell it here). I guess a good ending?
