Looking for guidance on an international trip with young kids

Hi,

I have been having a lot of trouble zeroing in on a destination for a 2020 summer trip. Mid June-August is the time period for a 2-week vacation departing from the USA. We will be bringing our kids, ages 6 and 3. Budget is flexible. Together, we have been to France, Spain, Ireland, England, Belgium, Italy, Switzerland. Initially we were considering South Africa but tossed it out due to thinking it is just too long of a flight for youngest. Then we really got into SE Asia, but I looked at temps that time of year and 90+ with thick humidity is not something I want to do with the kids either (or myself to be honest). Also the risk of serious weather threats makes it less appealing.

We want nice weather (60s-80s), and are big hikers/outdoors people especially with our kids. We are foodies, but I always temper that a bit with the kids. I think with all the logistics and criteria I’ve outlined, we are thinking Scandinavia or some combination or Budapest area/Prague area/Bavaria – maybe 2 of them but not 3. I love the look of Portugal but she isn’t really into it. Another region I’ve considered is the Croatia/Albania area.

Looking for anyone with experience here or wisdom, especially with kiddos. Thanks.
