I'm flying into Barcelona in early May, and will spend two weeks in Europe. I set aside six days to go to Madeira and hike. After that, my plan was to go to Mallorca for 7 days and hike there. However, a friend of mine said Mallorca is just a huge party island, which turned me away from it. I am now looking for a place that preferably has the following:
- Gorgeous areas to hike (MUST)
- Few tourists
- No further east than Slovenia
- No further north than Munich
- Travel in an area that I can "complete"
All of those are just what I prefer (except the first bullet point)
Here are the places I have considered:
- French Riviera (Marseilles to Monaco area)/Provence
- Dolomite Region of Italy
- Slovenia
- Alps (Swiss, Italian, Julian)
- Any stretch on the western Italian coast
Bonus points if the location is cheap and has beautiful hikes and beaches.
I also looked at the Canary Islands and the Azores Islands, but I would want to do each island chain in one trip, as 7 days to do either one feels rushed.
Any recommendations?
Note: When referring to completing an area, it means that I want to travel an area without being rushed, not needing to return to it to finish my trip there.
