Which island in the Caribbean Region to visit if you don't just wanna see white sand and blue water?

Hello travellers,

My girlfriend and I (based in Europe) really love going on vacation to islands. We would love to take a trip a bit further for a change (we've never veered very far from Europe) and we'd like to go to Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, or perhaps the Antilles, or Turks & Caicos, but other suggestions are welcome too. Thing is, we're not the types to just sit on a beach and drink Bahama Mamas, nor are we the type to take long hikes or go deep sea diving. We're kind of in between. We love vibrant cities with lots of fun bars and great cuisine and things like street art and cultural museums, with the added bonus of being able to go see the ocean whenever we want. And there's just something about being on an island that being in a city-near-the-ocean just cannot compare to. What city and/or island would you advise?
