Advice about traveling to Italy?

Hello, I am thinking about getting my 6 person family (3 adults 3 children) to Italy in the near future, maybe 2021. Is Rome a good area for large families to hang out and relax for around 2 weeks? I know its probably filled with tourists, but that means it will have lots of tourist attractions, which is pretty nice. We currently live in Denver, CO, but might be in Pensacola Florida by then. To anybody who has traveled to Italy before, what are some nice family friendly cities and hotels/resorts that arnt too over the top expensive? Our budget for the trip is about 20,000 dollars, if thats even possible. We are really interested in the more historical parts of Italy, but that have lots of attractions to keep a family of 6 entertained. Thank you so much!
