I am planning a trip for me, my wife, and my parents. Here is what I have as my itinerary:
- June 4th - arrive in Munich at 06:36, get rental car, drive to Dachau. After Dachau, visit some Munich sites. Marienplatz, Viktualienmarkt, Hoffbrau. Drive to Salzburg - plan on being there around 20:00 or so. Stay overnight.
- June 5th - leave early morning for Hallstatt. Sky Walk, St Michaels Chapel, maybe rent a boat for 30 - 60 minutes. Back to Salzburg. Maybe stop in St Wolfgang for Schafbergbahn railway. Maybe stop in St Gilen and/or Fuschl for the views. If any time is left, go to Mirabell, Hellbrun, Hohensalzburg.
- June 6th - Mirabell, Hellbrun, Hohensalzburg, Getreisdegasse, whatever fits
- June 7th - Depart Salzburg for Fussen. Probably time to do something in Salzburg or on the way to Fussen. In Fussen, go to Marienbrucke. Take the Tegelberg gondola, maybe go to Weiskirche.
- June 8th - Leave Fussen for Lauterbrunnen. Stay in Lauterbrunnen (probably 1st choice), Murren, or Wengen. Do some sightseeing: Trummelbach Falls, Gimmelwald, Grindelwald - whatever we have the time for that day.
- June 9th - Shilthorn in the morning. Stop in Birg on the way down for Thrill Walk. Whatever other sighseeing we have time for (Trummelbach, etc.)
- June 10th - Jungfraujoch in the morning. Whatever else we have time for (Grindelwald, etc.) Wengen - Männlichen cable car??
- June 11 - Leave Lauterbrunnen early morning to make it to Eltz Castle by 1330. Tour Eltz. Stay in Koblenz?
- June 12 - Leave for Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Plonlien, Market Square, City Walls, Tauberbrucke Bridge, etc. Nightwatchman tour at night.
- June 13 - St Jacobs (I thought I saw something that said it was closed for all of 2020, anyone know? I haven't been able to find it again.) Depart for Munich. Either go to Hohenzollern Castle or some Nuremburg sites
- June 14th - Whatever we didn't see in Munich on the first day - English Garden, etc. Maybe spend some time an Therme Erding
- June 15th - fly out early morning
Let me know what you think, please! I'm sure there will be a number of 'don't rent a car', but this is how we would like to do it. We like the freedom of being able to go wherever, whenever. We'll have 3 drivers, so we can share the driving.
