So my kids’ nanny is taking a vacation from June 19- June 26 this year. We are trying to go ahead and plan a family trip for that week so that we aren’t using our PTO unnecessarily, but the problem is, our kids are just so freaking young that I can’t even begin to imagine taking them anywhere. We used to go on family trips a lot when my son was a baby, but now that there are two of them!? I’m just feeling overwhelmed at the thought of taking a vacation but I know we all need one. And honestly my kids are super chill and laid back. There’s no reason why we shouldn’t brave something like this.
The dates will be from June 19 - June 26, but we can also use the weekends on each end of that week as well, if necessary. At the time of the trip, our daughter will be 8 months, and our son will be 2.5 years. Daughter will still be breastfeeding at that time. I want to keep the entire trip under $5k including flights, hotels, food and incidentals (we live in the US).
I don’t even know where to start or what to do with kids so young! My husband’s family lives in Egypt, so visiting there is an option because we’d be staying with them for free, but tickets alone would likely be over $5k for the four of us, and if we are spending that much money on tickets, we may as well stay for 3 weeks, not just one. Which, again, is technically an option because we both have a ton of PTO accrued, but I don’t think taking an 8 month old and 2.5 year old on a 20 hour flight would be fun for anyone lol.
I’m thinking we should stay somewhere in the states (or possibly somewhere close like Canada, Mexico, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, etc.), but I am definitely considering anything and everything! I know my $5k budget puts huge limitations on trip options, but, I’m not trying to go broke over one week lol.
Any ideas are appreciated!
