I've read a lot of people answer this question but they were all flying into Mexico which means there was a passenger manifest for immigration to check ahead of time and turn away people. What I am trying to find out specifically is if anyone has personal experience with crossing the Texas border into Mexico on foot, or even driving, and obtaining their 6 month tourist FMM while having a criminal record. I know someone who has previous convictions for DUI and a drug charge and he is worried about whether or not they check US citizens past criminal history while at the Instituto Nacional De Migracion at the border. I don't believe he has warrants, this is just about his criminal history. If anyone has personal experience with this and can enlighten me on the actual process when there I would be most appreciative.
