Looking to spend around 3 weeks in Italy around late July/early August (GF is a teacher so doesn’t give much wiggle room in terms of times). Likely will be flying in and out of Rome but can maybe swing flying out of Venice.
Looking at a rough itinerary of this, using trains to go between:
Rome: 4 days.
Amalfi (Sorrento/Positano/Atrani): 4 days.
Assisi: 1 day (stopping without staying w/ bags sounds miserable so would probably spend a night).
Florence (Tuscany and Cinque Terre): 6 days.
Venice: 4 days.
Unsure if we should home base in Florence and bounce around or try to stay in some of the smaller towns as well. Looking for tips or suggestions!
