Got accepted for a summer exchange (July-ish) to Hong Kong - this was the email I was sent. Feeling a little apprehensive, should I go?
“I’m sure you are aware of the current situation both in HKUST and China Proper. At the moment, the University of XXX isn’t allowing travel to China, though Hong Kong is still permitted.
Additionally, we did have a student go to Hong Kong in the Fall semester, and Risk Management did eventually reach out to him and strongly suggest he return given the climate.
Obviously things could change in the next few months (and we hope it does) but I wanted you to be aware of some of the additional risks and caveats with choosing to go to Hong Kong.
IF, given all the above, you are still comfortable with your application and want to forge ahead, I would be pleased to inform you that I am approving your exchange. This of course still has the condition that the University of XXX may change their stance on Hong Kong, and that your exchange may be cancelled.”
