Where to stay in Scotland for 4 days? Need your help to decide between Glasgow, Inverness and Edinburgh.

Heading to UK for 8 days and will be spending 4 days in Scotland. Goal is visit the highlands but want to do something at night too (city). Should I stay in Glasgow and then visit the highlands or should I stay in Inverness would that be a better option?
