Accepting credits for flights vs full refunds - I think airlines are being sneaky

I have international flights I am no longer able to take and the airline (Scoot) keeps emailing me telling me to login and press a button to claim a refund that i'll get in credits.

Obviously i'd prefer a cash refund and I assume if they cancel the flight they have to refund me?

But the thing is, they haven't cancelled the flight, to Singapore, despite Singapore closing its borders.

I have a feeling they're doing something very sneaky and trying to get me to accept credits before cancelling the flight that way they won't have to pay out in cash.

Is that something airlines do? If I hold out will they wind up cancelling the flight and refunding me or will I wind up losing both the credits and the cash?
