Are planes still flying?

So I’m not sure if this belongs here (if not, where?) but I have a question for pilots/anyone who has travelled recently. My mom lives in Australia, and I was looking at flights to go visit. I’ve found some in July, but she says that airlines are cancelling flights a lot and if I book a flight then it will probably get cancelled and I’ll just be given credit. My husband says that planes are still flying, even if empty. If I buy a plane ticket is it more than likely that the flight will be cancelled? TIA

And yes, I have checked out restrictions, and yes, I would be allowed to enter the country.
