I've been trying to plan a trip for Pisgah National forest and the surrounding area, but there's so many sights that I am having a hard time choosing. Are there any trails or views that stand out to any of you that you think are most worthwhile? I would be going with my boyfriend, we're both young and pretty in shape but I'm not looking for a rough hiking trip. We usually do a hike that's around 2 hours, hop in the car to cool off and drive to the next spot, and then hike again for around 2 hours. I prefer seeing spectacular waterfalls, but that's the problem, there's so many to choose from!Wildlife is another thing I enjoy seeing. I recently decided against going to GSMNP in favor of Pisgah National Forest since it's closer to where I live and seems to have more interesting views without as many tourists.
For a list of what I am considering is starting at Grandfather Mountain and working our way back down to Craggy Gardens, Looking Glass Falls (which, from what I can tell, is right off the road), and Catawba Falls. Do you think there's anything more deserving of a spot for my list? The trip was planned to have a one night stay, but I don't have anything super set in stone yet, so I'm up for changing my mind again. Drop any of your favorite spots along this route down below, please!
