3 weeks of travel in the U.S. Northeast?

Hello,

I'm located in the D.C. area. I'm changing jobs and always imagined taking off extra time to travel somewhere fun. I always dreamed of exploring a foreign country, but I'm determined to take an abbreviated vacation in the U.S.

I live with my boyfriend and dog and would love to take them with me. Any suggestions for a 3 week travel plan in the U.S.? We have access to a car, but my boyfriend will probably need wifi for mots of the time for work. What would you do if you were me?
