I have to obfuscate my plan a little for personal reasons, so I understand may not get fully accurate answers but bear with me.
I have a flight from Asia to Londonusing British Airways. The plane lands at Heathrow terminal 5. In the same ticket I have a connecting flight to Europe from terminal 3 operated by a different airline. British Airways lists the hand luggage allowance as 23 kg, but my connecting flight lists the allowance at 8 kg. I'm wondering if I could risk packing my hand luggage using the first, more generous allowance, and hope my hand luggage will not be re-weighed during transit. Personally my hand luggage has never been weighed before so I think I should be fine, but does anyone know if a chance for this exists? I believe I have to go through another security screening at Heathrow when I'm transiting from Asia to Europe, but I'm not sure if they would for some reason ask to weigh my bags. If at that point my hand luggage weighs 20 kg and the limit is 8 kg, I'm fucked. Any ideas? Thanks.
