Flying with a laptop

So I'm flying out Saturday morning and will more than likely need my laptop to complete school work. I have a carry-on luggage and a personal bag already. I had planned on just putting my laptop in my personal bag but the sleeve I have for my laptop has a zipper so I don't think it's tsa friendly but I'm having a hard time interpreting what is tsa friendly for a laptop sleeve.

I was just gonna sit it in my personal bag (doesn't have a designated laptop compartment) but didn't know if that would be okay? I know I'm probably going to want some sort of padding surrounding it.

Any advice on what to do or how to travel with it would be greatly appreciated! As well as how to get through security without any issues with it or just in general!
