Ideas for a road trip from Denver to the Grand Canyon, through Vegas to San Fran, and up to Seattle on Hwy 1
Sorry for the long title. My buddy and I are planning a three week road trip next summer with the end goal being The Gorge in Washington for Phish. We will have a National Park pass and plan on camping most nights. Our idea is to drive through the Grand Canyon and stay a few nights there, and then make our way up to Vegas and stay a night on the Strip. From there we want to drive west and camp along the way to San Fransisco where we would grab another hotel. From there we want to stay along the coast as we make our way up to Seattle. If we have enough time we want to try to make it into Vancouver for a night or two as well since we both have passports.
Thats the general outline of the trip, we know we want to see the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, Golden Gate Bridge, Sequoia, Yosemite, and the Redwoods. We both have little experience around these National Parks, but have plenty experience camping. We want to do whatever cool hikes along the way. Even some backpacking hikes for a night would be fun. We have a small idea of good climbing areas in Yosemite, but any other areas would be cool to explore.
I guess I am looking for any of your favorite hikes, landmarks, weird pit stops, restaurants, or anything fun along the way. Also, other than a National Park Pass, what other things should we expect? Our plan is very minimal, please help us add some unforgettable experiences. Thank you
