Boston & Salem Halloween Weekend trip, is it worth it? Has anyone been there during Halloween?

I’ve asked this in r/boston and the consensus that I got was “stay home, dont bother”.

Haunted Happenings in Salem have been cancelled, but the museums, stores, restaurants etc... are going to be opened.

I live in NYC so I wont have to quarantine in MA. Trying to figure out whether its worth it visiting those towns. Has anyone been there? What was your experience?

Im trying to travel somewhere on the east coast for a 3 night trip.
