Toll violation in Austria, what happens?

Hoping someone could help or tell me where I could post this question.

I'm American, I got a toll violation letter from Bregenz, Austria for not having the proper vignette on my rental car in October 2019. The fine is 300 Euros. I rented the car in Munich, Germany.

What are the consequences of not paying this fine if I return to either Germany or Austria? I usually enter the Schengen Zone through Frankfurt, Munich, sometimes Berlin (probably won't return to Austria). I can't afford to pay at the moment. The letter says 1 day 9 hours imprisonment if not paid (assuming I translated it correctly).
