As the title indicates - I'm looking to plan our vacation for January 2021, roughly 4-7 days, and need help as we are not at all frequent travelers. It's technically our late late honeymoon due to being cancelled earlier this year. We had a cruise booked before, but obviously that's out of the cards (not that I want to do one now anyway).
We are a midwest couple, planning on mid-January, at least 4 nights, up to 7 max. Budget is less than $5k with flights included. We like cheap, but not like stay in a hostel cheap if ya dig me. Value-oriented, we'll go with that.
I've tried looking at the Caribbean, but having never stayed on any islands previously, we don't really know what would put one island over another as a better choice. Not to mention the thousands of results for resorts.
We like the beach but also don't want to just do beach only all day every day. Would like other activities, such as kayaking, hiking, rafting, ATVs, etc. We are wine-o's, like good food. All inclusive is fine, but if it's not (and we would be able to get around easily and safely) that's fine too.
Also doesn't have to be out of the country. We haven't really explored any of the US either so I'm not sure other than Florida what would be good in January that's not going to be freezing or snowy (not looking to ski).
I literally googled how to pick a Caribbean island and it didn't really help lol. So if you are into armchair travel planning or have visited somewhere you recommend, throw it at me. PLEASE. It's been a tough year due to family deaths, job loss, cancelled wedding, etc (2020 amiright?) so we just need this to be a nice escape for a little bit.
