I know most airlines will charge you a flat rate one-way for one small pet. Usually the stipulations regarding this is that the pet must fit in a carrier that fits under the seat in front of you. However, I’ve noticed that a lot of people travel with dogs that definitely don’t fit under the seat in front of them… How are they able to fly with them? I know that they are not flying in cargo because I see these people with their dogs, who are clearly not service animals in the terminal, at the gate, waiting to board the flight. I have a dog who is about 25 pounds, however she is a bit taller than most “small dogs.“ I’d like to take her with me when I fly, but she’s just too big to fit under the seat in front of me. Does anyone have some advice?
