I just reserved a cabin on an Alaska expedition with Hurtigruten for July, 2022. I know I can just fly to Vancouver to meet the ship, but am looking for alternative ways of getting there (and/or back) that will allow me to explore some other areas as I've already been to Vancouver (and Seattle) Any suggestions? For example, I can fly to Chicago, then take a train to Eugene, OR, then another train up to Vancouver. Would this be worth the 50+ hours? OR Is it worth driving all the way? Let's assume I have a week or 2 on either end and money is not a concern. Thanks for your suggestions!
