When I traveled to Berlin and Florence, it looked like they were both terribly difficult places to navigate in a wheelchair—no corner cuts, cobblestone roads, sometimes no elevators. I don’t even want to think about restrooms...
I have a friend with CP who’s incredibly independent, does shit on her own, has a more impressive social life than I do, and is currently going to Law school. She’s all together a bad ass. We grew up in a part of the USA that has really strong ADA accessibility compliance, so she has an easy time doing what she likes.
It just seems so messed up that she wouldn’t be able to see parts of Europe that I could go to just because the cities won’t accommodate the needs of folks in wheelchairs.
If we were to ever travel together in Europe, would there be places where we could both be comfortable?
