Has anyone traveled by train across Russia?

Good day, I was wondering if anyone has traveled across Russia by train. My wife and I, are thinking about traveling from Beijing to Russia and then into Finland all by train. Has anyone done this before? I'm mainly curious about the journey across Russia. Is it safe? Are there issues with corrupt officials or people trying to get money from you? Any help or information, advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
