Has anyone traveled to Saint Pierre and Miquelon? Would a road trip out east ending on the islands be worth it?

I'm looking into a bunch of different US road trip routes, and one that caught my eye was one through New England, up trough Atlantic Canada, and then over to the French islands of Saint Pierre and Miquelon, before heading back home. I live in Minnesota, so it's kind of intriguing that I can just hop in my car and drive to France (well, with a few ferries). Is there much to see/do in Atlantic Canada and St. Pierre? I don't have any set dates yet, probably not in the next year, 2022 at earliest. I see the ferry service to the islands can't handle cars right now but they said it should be fully operational by summer 2020, not sure what's happened to that but it's okay as I'm not planning it for the coming months anyways.
