Cheap skiing in FEB near a big airport

Hey everyone. Needed some advice.

I would like to ski for the first time and im planning a 3 day weekend trip mid Feb .

Where are some "cheaper' skiing places i can go within 1-2 drive from an airport.

Saw some in Minneapolis, MN that were close to Downtown so I wouldn't have to drive that far. Im a little worried to drive on frozen highways.
