I have no idea what I'm doing and my wife wants to go to Guadaloupe... Help getting started?

My wife is a huge fan of Death in Paradise, a BBC TV show filmed in Guadaloupe. This year is our 30th wedding anniversary and she'd like to go.

Now, I'm not massively well-traveled and every trip has stressed me out massively. I've been to Belgium camping twice (The first time with a friend, the second time I did EXACTLY the same trip to reduce the stress), and Stockholm once.

I am from the UK these trips were easy!

So, a trip all the way to Guadaloupe? I don't even know where to get started!

Can someone point me the way? I will admit to being scared witless even to get started.

(Background: Grew up in a small town in the UK that even now has people that have never even left. I'm 52 this year. I do not travel well!)
