Hello all,
I have posted on here a few times through out the duration of my trip planning. There are still some things I am confused about and have questions with, so I would appreciate if anyone could help.
I am leaving from Boston to New York City (American Airlines), then New York to Stockholm (American Airlines operated by Finnair). I ordered my trip all on the same ticket (I didn't order separate flights). I am wondering if on the way there when I land in NYC if I will need to go to baggage claim and recheck my bag, or if I can just immediately go to the international terminal and my gate. I have tried contacting American Airlines but I have gotten no luck. (I have 4.5 hour layover between the two flights).
Same question for on my way back- I am leaving from Stockholm via Finnair (not American Airlines) and then from NYC to Boston I am traveling with American Airlines. Will I need to re-check my bags in NYC? (I have a 3 hour layover between flights).

I am a little confused about customs. If I have bringing no food or drinks from the U.S., do I need to declare anything in Sweden? All stuff will be just my clothes and personal care items. From my understanding, if I buy anything from Sweden (gifts, merchandise, food, drink) and try to bring it back to the United States, I need to claim it.
I have my travel insurance printed, my passport, my hotel printed, and my return flight printed. I also have pictures of all things on my phone as well as pictures of my passport, debit/credit card, travel insurance info, and hotel reservation. Additionally, I have called my credit/debit card company (discover) and let them know that I will be traveling out of country.
Any tips or encouragement would be greatly appreciated! I am very nervous as a 21 year old traveling internationally the first time. I have done domestic countless of times, but this is new.
Thanks (:
