I’d like to share what in my opinion are the best foods of each region (feel free to contribute since i know more the places i lived in).
Veneto (venice’s region, my neighbours. I speak mainly of venice because i know it more, but still)
Sarde in saór, spaghetti al nero di seppia, zuppa di pesce, spaghetti alle vongole, spaghetti ai frutti di mare (good in lots of regions in italy though), biscotti del doge (venice is good in biscuits, macarons came from there even if the french modified it) and some pistacchio biscuit my father tasted in a pastry shop once.
Pandoro is from verona.
Friuli Venezia Giulia (my region, in case there is some austrian or slav here): Frico (a dish with potatoes and fonded Montasio cheese) Gubana (an epiphany sweet with raisins) and pinza (another epiphany sweet) prosciutto san daniele
All northeast: spritz aperol, spritz campari, spritz select, grappa, prosecco
Salami: everywhere in italy
Emilia Romagna: piadina romagnola, mortadella, ravioli, tortelli, spaghetti al ragù (spaghetti bolognese abroad) Certosino (a sweet with candies) lasagne
Lombardia: panettone, colomba (easter sweet) risotto allo zafferano, cassëula(sorry for the spelling) cotoletta alla milanese, Barbera wine.
Those were the places i lived in, from now on i’m ignorant:
I know piedmont is famous for chocolate but that’s it. And the wine, Asti, Barolo. help me, piemontesi:):)
Liguria is famous for the pesto (help me)
Lazio: saltimbocca alla romana, gnocchi alla romana, la Carbonara and once i ate a pasta with zucchine and nuts, good.
Abruzzo: arrosticini (again, help me)
Marche: they polenta like in north of italy, and also really good sea food
Toscana: bread without salt, bistecca alla fiorentina, Brunello, Chianti, ecc
Campania: pizza, i heard mozzarella is good
Sicilia: cannolo alla siciliana, granita alla siciliana, cassata siciliana, arancino or arancina (full with rice and other good things)
Puglia: help me, i’m sure there is lots of good stuff
Again, i didn’t list all the regions and all the dishes because i am quite ignorant (like other italians are on my region probably)
Help me fill it and i hope i inspire a culinary tour:):)
