Lifetime warranty vs. 5-year Warranty on hard-shell luggage

I asked a similar question this morning but have now figured out the crux of my question. I travel about 10 trips a year, most of them international.

I am down to two options for hardside luggage:

• One is ~$500, and comes with lifetime warranty against things like zippers, wheels, and cracks in the shell, etc. However, I don't know how long I'll plan to keep these pieces; even if they are functioning fine after 10-15 years but are starting to look worn down, I may decide to replace them. So, I am looking at the "lifetime warranty" really as more of a "10-15 year warranty", because that is the length of time that I can see myself owning these pieces of luggage.
• The other is ~$250, and comes with a 5-year warranty against the same things.

Let's assume for the purposes of this question, that in all other respects, the suitcases are equal. My question is, how long does hard-side luggage last, and is paying the 2x for the lifetime warranty really worth it? This is especially so because the $500 option is on the very outside of my budget, however since it's not outside of my budget per se it is definitely an option.
