In the outskirts of Buenos Aires there is a medieval themed city square built near a villa miseria (Argentine favela). Little did I know of the adventure that awaited. I rode the bus for 2 hours then it started making all kinds of unplanned turns. I was eventually let off in a shopping area at Gregorio de Laferrere. I boarded another bus that also began taking unexpected turns. I stopped the bus driver and he told me we won’t be going back to where I was planning to get off so he let me off in the middle of the favela. I walked back down the road past some obvious drug dealers, guys on motos, street dogs, and horses bulling carts with trash. I finally made it back to a highway and I asked for directions. I then walked for 30 minutes through the rest of the favela and finally arrived only to find out they were closing the medieval village. Defeated, I asked a kiosk (convenience store) owner for directions back and rode the bus back. It took 7 hours for the round trip, but it was an experience with a cool story.
