Trip Report: Armenia

Just came back from a 9 day trip to Armenia.

We visited Yerevan, Tatev, Tavush, Yell Extreme park, lake Kari & Gyumri.

Here my 2 cents

Great - The people are amazing. One time we couldn't find our Airbnb & 5 people came within a minute to help us locate it. Many many such instances - The fruits & wine are truly something exceptional. We went during apricot season!

Good - Drinking water is free & plentiful. I hope this is something other countries can learn from - The cities feel safe.

Not so Good - Overall the cuisine lacks diversity & flavor. We tried many restaurants (lavash, khinkali etc), and smaller places but there is nothing I can recommend being memorable

Bad - The public toilets. I'm convinced the next black plague will originate from the Northern Yerevan bus station toilet. - The driving. I did not feel safe in cabs at all.

Use: Hyur service, GG taxi, Yerevan City supermarket Avoid: Yerevan Metro Buy: Fruits, Wine, Coffee, eggplant dip, local ice-cream, jams

Overall, Armenia feels like one of those countries which hasn't been run over by mass tourism, yet it has a lot to offer. The language barrier & lack of chains like McD & Starbucks makes for a very authentic experience.

I would definitely recommend traveling there at the earliest!
