Hi friends, my wife and I have time off during the first week of October. Right now I’ve narrowed it down, more or less, to Thailand or Vietnam. We’ll only have 4-5 full days in either location and our dates are sadly not flexible due to work.
My two main concerns are weather, as both countries have varying amounts of rain, and which one is more beginner friendly in terms of tourism - it’s generally fine for me, but my wife has not done much traveling and isn’t super interested in a backpacker lifestyle. I would like to make sure she has a good time. She’s mostly interested attractive/pretty areas and cultural spots, I’m interested in food, nature, and smaller towns. Neither one of us is super interested in big cities or parties.
We don’t have a set itinerary yet for either one, but would like to make as much use of our time as possible, so extensive time traveling from point to point is probably not great for us since our time is so limited. From what I’ve read online, the north of both countries, such as the chiang mai and Hanoi areas, tend to have less rainfall during October, so that’s where I’ve thinking we might go.
We’re also not looking to spend a tone of money and just want to enjoy our short vacation together while traveling.
Are either one of these locations better than the other? Or are there other countries that might be better for us in the SEA areas?
Thanks!
