What places have you been to where the locals have been kind / welcoming / not out to scam you?

So with a few of the posts lately highlighting negative experiences in places like Morocco where the locals are out to scam you at every corner, I figured it might be good to discuss places where people have had good experiences with the locals. So, where have you been where the locals were friendly and welcoming?
