Got stranded in peru

So as many of you are already know Peru is difficult to travel at the moment. My wife and I had booked a tour through Peru, Bolivia, Chile and then on to Argentina.

We had our reservations about travelling to Peru when the riot’s began. We contacted our tour operators and were told that to tour is going ahead. We then asked on the 16th of jan and again that it was going ahead and that they were monitoring the situation.

We had done a bit of research and looked like maybe MP would be off the cards but perhaps they would organise something else to replace it.

So we traveled from Brisbane to Sydney to Houston then on to Lima. We arrived in Lima at around 1am exited the airport but our driver was no where to be seen. The taxi drivers tried every which way to manipulate us into one of there cabs but luckily a gentleman (a Peruvian expat who now lives in Brisbane) saw that we were in trouble came to our rescue and called our tour company and informed us that our tour had been canceled and that there was no driver for us, he then went on to organise us a taxi and made sure we got somewhere safe for the night. So now we feel devastated that we have come all the way here and they cancelled the tour before we had even left Aus but didn’t bother to inform us and even continued to tell us that we were good to go and provided us paperwork for the canceled tour.

I know some of the blame lies with us as we should have canceled long ago but we were both so excited to see Peru and what it has to offer. Hopefully insurance will help us out.

Thanks for listening to my sob story.
