I am planning to visit Italy and have a few Q's

1. I am looking forward to visit during off-season, what would be good areas to stay so vatican and rome and within 10 mins walk or around 20 mins by metro
2. Is the metro station available within 5 mins of any or most tourist attraction.
3. what not to visit in rome and vatican?
4. what's your secret place that requires a visit?
5. Any visit tips?
