Hello Reddit,
I am currently, and soon to be finished, a volunteer in the Volta Region, Ghana, as a teacher in the equivalent of Middle school. This experiences has been to me a work experience ( I like helping Children develop) first of all and a way to experience West Africa as a whole. I have travelled to Togo and Benin for a funeral. I have been with my GF's family, so not like a solo travel. I have had to learn how to understand social cues and adapt to a myriad of situations that are typical to this area. Anyways, I loved it even though I have had issues integrating at first.
If you are thinking of travelling to West Africa, especially the countries I've been in, please feel free to ask me questions. So that you can avoid the mistakes I made and stereotypes I have had in my mind going in.
