How has hostel culture changed since the pandemic?

Hi all, been traveling for about a month now in southeast Asia and it's really been wonderful. Last time I backpacked was 2019, and I feel almost a noticeable difference in how hostels feel since back then, has anyone else felt a difference as well (beyond just Covid measures?) It feels like the culture has changed, I wanted to see if anyone else has felt it and if so, what felt different
