Bali ( Indonesia ) thinking about banning the use of scooters and motorcycles for foreigners.

Here's an idea. Instead of blanket banning ALL foreigners from riding motorcycles\scooters, allow the foreigners that have legitimate, foreign motorcycle licenses to rent and operate them.

I've been riding motorcycle all my life, and for a great period it was my only mode of transport

When we visit Indonesia, we rent a big scooter. We do it often enough that we bring our own helmets and protective gear. When I we get pulled over for inspections, I have my passport, my drivers license and international drivers license at the ready. Never once have I been hassled.

The overwhelming troublesome foreign riders are the ones that have not ridden a scooter in their lives and have no situational awareness and roadcraft.

Riding a motorcycle is risky enough. Riding in a over populated area with bustling traffic and bigger vehicles that just push their way in is x10 riskier.
