I’m a new-ishly legally blind woman in my 40s. After getting a divorce, I’m looking into a nice relaxing solo vacation. I’m a U.S. citizen and would be traveling from the USA.
I do have some vision but I cannot drive and I cannot see signs or people’s faces unless they’re very close. I use a white cane in unfamiliar places and use magnifiers when I need to. However I don’t want this to stop me from going.
As a solo traveling woman plus being fairly blind, I’m looking for safety and convenience.
I enjoy hiking, nature, and historical places but would need a guided tour for that. I’d love to leisurely walk around where I stay with plenty of shops and restaurants but hopefully feel safe since I’d be using a white cane and I’m aware it probably makes me an easy target. I’d need reliable transport from hotel/resort or very plentiful, safe, and reliable train/cabs/Uber.
I understand this is a fairly broad question. My immediate thought was somewhere in the Caribbean because I’ve always loved the beach, but I’m open to suggestions.
