Every time I'm planning a vacation to a mountain type getaway I dread searching for lodging. Every place is over priced and rundown. They all have the same brown asthetic and furniture from the 1980's. I can't tell wether it's because they know we don't have options and we'll take whatever or is it a product of being way out in the wilderness. I know there are some exceptions.
Edit: With all of the disagreements, I now realize that I should have elaborated. I was being hyperbolic by saying anything and everything. I should say most places within my budget $150-$300.
The areas I'm referring to are around Yosemite and Mammoth Lakes. When I search by price range, it's a lot of outdated travel lodges with not many amenities. Pictures are usually poorly lit and drab. I'm really not being boujee either. But it takes the fun out of searching when all of the options are the same. I'm looking for something unique, not luxurious.,
