My family (2 adults, 1 kid) spent $1200 earlier this year for a 4-day, 3 night vacation in a town 5 hours away driving. It was a semi-touristy small town with amazing outdoor activities. We visited during the shoulder season when price and crowd was still low. We ate out 3 times and brought our own breakfast and lunch.
As I’m pricing out a 8-10 day vacation in Europe (France or Germany), I’m thinking that may cost around $4,000 for 1 adult, 1 kid. My other family members don’t have the liberty to take such long vacations. I feel like perhaps the Europe trip would be a bit better value than our domestic trip this year. I’ve never been to Europe, but the the appeal is a vacation where I don’t have to drive and food is novel/decent? If that’s the case, maybe I should save for 1 international vacation instead of 1-2 US domestic vacation a year. Thoughts?
Thank you.
