Have you ever taken a financially unstable friend on vacation? What happened? Is your friendship better or worse?

I want to know has anyone ever taken a friend who was financially unstable friend on vacation? I had an experience where I decided to treat a friend who I thought was my friend to a trip to Las Vegas. This person took advantage of everything started trying to cause arguments between us, or the other friends that attended. Always tried to suggest activities they wanted to do, what they wanted to eat…..without paying for anything because they had no money to contribute. I recently went on a vacation again with a mutual group of friends without that person and they were naturally upset for not being invited. They have been gaslighting the friend group saying we should have invited her because that’s what friends do and it’s not her fault she doesn’t have a good career/job. Do you guys travel with your finically unstable friends how do you make it work? Or have you lost friendship over this?
