Hey travelers,
the older I get the more I am concerned about safety when traveling. I want to prepare as good as possible but it is difficult to find good data.
You see a lot of posts in this sub where people ask if a destination is safe or not. The answers are usually of the same type: "dont worry, I was there last month an everything went well" or "the cousin of the friend of my father was mugged there".
Personal experience is next to useless since it is just one data point and you can have a safe travel to Afghanistan but be killed in Denmark.
Another option is to check official travel advisory. But the advisory of my country is usually not super useful. They provide good information about civil unrest, likelyhood of terrorism, political protests, etc. But as a tourist I also want to know whether mugging, violence or kidnapping of tourists are a problem.
Is there some english speaking state that provides travel advisory that you trust?
