So, I hope I can clearly paint my picture and get around to asking my question.
I live in Newfoundland, Canada and it's often more expensive to fly to other locations within Canada than it is to fly to international destinations (specifically the US) and that is becoming increasingly frustrating. We're an enormous geographic country so I understand if it's cheaper to travel to Boston (2000 km away) than Vancouver (6700 km away). However, I genuinely struggle to understand how I can fly round trip to Nashville (3700 km away) cheaper than I can fly to Halifax (1000 km away).
My question is: does anyone else in the world pay more to travel domestically than they do internationally?
Edit for a few things: 1) I understand the concept of capitalism but obviously still become mildly infuriated by it when it's so blatant. 2) I fully appreciate the frustration that many of you are experiencing in nearly identical travel conundrums...keep 'em coming! 3) Thanks to those of you providing a few travel tips and even reading material to help make things a bit more relatable and understandable.
