We need some advice. We were so anxious for a vacation to be planned that we appear to have made a choice that isn't going to be a nice vacation
We're 53, and have a 17 year old daughter, coming from the Vancouver area. We haven't had a real vacation in 12 years. We've been talking about retirement in Latin America for a while, hopefully happening at age 60.
Because we were stuck in decision paralysis about a Mexico vacation, we went to a travel agent in the mall. The agent was very patient with us, but pushed all-inclusive packages throughout our time there. In the end, we accepted one of those in Puerto Vallarta on her recommendation that they send a lot of people to this resort.
It's a party resort basically, in Nuevo Vallarta/Nayarit, not near any Mexican culture locations or other restaurants. It's not really going to do what we want. We're not looking for luxury, but we don't really drink or party, want varied authentic meals, want to explore what we may consider moving to eventually.
I believe we can cancel our resort stay, but keep the flights (October 1-10).
Suggestions welcome! What would you do?
